Get It Right, It’s Android, Sir
Who knew good advertising would get under my skin so much?
As you probably know, I am an Android mobile phone operating system fan (or fanatic. It’s hard to tell sometimes), and I talk about it more than probably what I should.
There is no doubt that Motorola has pushed Android to the masses, and the Droid series phones are a great line of phones, and definitely the best selling ones out there. And for that, I thank Motorola for its support of such a great mobile platform.
However, their advertising for these Droid phones have “confused” in my opinion, many a people. A trend as formed into referring to every phone running Android as a “Droid” phone. And thus where my frustration comes in.
Jimmy Fallon, famous comedian that has presented hip and cool technology to his audience on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” , tweeted out today that a Late Night application is coming to “Droids”, and although to some may seem to be a rude and jerky move, I tweeted Mr. Fallon to make sure that he was referencing the increasingly large Android family of phones, and not just the Droid series of phones. And to my surprise, he replied, and thanked me for correcting him.
And this story, so to speak of, got some recognition on droid-life.com, a site that is in a list of Android websites that I frequent to keep up on latest news, pointed out this conversation that happened on twitter between myself and Mr. Fallon. You can read the story on droid-life right here.
If for nothing else, this story teaches two things that I have known for a long time now. One, celebrities are much more approachable in this day and age, and Two, everything you say or type or put out is public on the internet.
